Description Jim Edmonds has held the office of chairman of the Port of Houston Authority since 2000. His is a native of New Mexico and moved to Houston in 1966. He worked in various political offices, including the office of former Mayor Louie Welch, and worked in the private sector before coming to the Port of Houston. He has extensive knowledge about the history of the Port of Houston particular the roll of the early Houston pioneers and the oil industry in developing the port. His greatest accomplishment is developing Bayport Container and Cruise Ship Terminal.
