Women Against Violence Everywhere (WAVE) -
A group specifically focusing on violence against
women and children will meet the first Wednesday
monthly beginning at 7:00pm at the First Unitarian

Empowerment Group", is a new organization
meeting the first Friday of the month at the
Montrose Palace at the corner of Commonwealth
and Nevada. Bring your business cards to network
from 6-6:30pm. The meeting is from 6:30-8:00.

Race for the Cure - A woman only 5K run at
7:45am and family 1M walk 8:30am at the
Galleria will raise money for breast cancer
research, low cost mammograms, and education
here in Houston. Special guest appearance by

about the various ways in which this organization
provides help and support to women in Houston.

Parents FLAG/Houston (Parents & Friends of
Lesbians & Gays) meets the first Sunday of each
month at 2:00pm at Grace Lutheran Church.
Rise Up and Call Her Name, 7-9pm each Monday
for 10 weeks thru Dec 9. A woman honoring
journey into global earth-based spiritualities.
Through herstorical information, music, visual
images, hands-on art projects and discussion,
participants will travel around the globe,
experiencing the spiritual and goddess-revering
traditions of indigenous people. Returning to our
own communities rich with the knowledge we have
gained, we will develop together ways to share our
personal discoveries. We will visit the cultures of
the Americas, Africa and Egypt, African America,
India, Southeast Asia, China and Japan. Unitarian
Univer- salist Association curriculum designed by
Elizabeth Fisher. Anita Louise will facilitate. Call

Second Annual Lone Star Women's Music
Festival A women's retreat - October 11, 12 and
13 outside of Austin at campground on the
Guadalupe river with day performances in Austin
at Chances and Chicago House, woman-owned
clubs. Advance tickets are $55 and $65 at the gate,
meal tickets are $20. Tickets are available at

Facing the Children: A Journey Toward Healing
Your Inner Child is a two day workshop for
individuals who want to become aware of deeper
parts of themselves, particularly those parts called
the inner child. The workshop offers you an
opportunity to understand your emotional patterns
and life scripts, release emotions that have
blocked your growth, and tap into your inner
sources of vitality, joy and motivation. The
workshop is facilitated by Joyce M. Gayles, PhD
and Angela Passaretti, MSW-CSW. For
