The Texas State NOW Council will meet
on Saturday, May 28 at 10 a.m. to 12 p.
m. at the Paso del Norte Hotel in El
Paso. The May meeting previously scheduled in Houston has been moved to El
Paso in order to make it possible for
more members to attend both the Council
meetina and the South Central Reqional
Conference. Agenda items will includex
IWY Texas State Meeting; State Conference in San Antonio; National Board
Candidates; Labor Task Force Report;
and Texans for the ERA. Due to a shortened meetinq time, the agenda items
will be held to a minimum number for
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S YEAR DECADE STATE
CONFERENCE FOR WOMEN
State Conferences for Women, sponsored
by the Federal government, are to be
held this year in every state. The National Conference will be held in Houston in November. The IWY/Decade Texas
State Conference for Women will take
place in Austin June 24, 25 and 26. Fifty eight Texas delegates to the National Conference will be elected at this
At the State meeting, the Nominating
Committee, elected April 30 from the
membership of the Coordinating Committee will present a slate of fifty eight
or fewer nominees and nominations will
also be taken from the floor. If you
would like to run or know of other NOW
activists who would be willing to serve
as delegate, prepare a resume and statement (addressed to the IWY/Decade Texas
Committee) stating that, if elected,
you will serve.

the May 28 full Committee meeting here

CALL TO CONFERENCE
The South Central Regional NOW
Conference is set for May 27, 28 and
29 in El Paso for the purpose of
adopting regional by-laws and participating in workshops, as well as
convening members for state caucuses.
Any Texas NOW members who have not
received a call to conference and wishing to register may send the $10 registration fee along with name and
address to NOW Conference Registration,

Include $3.25 for luncheon reserva-
tion. Hotel reservations may be made

Texas candidates for the National
Board are Gail Baier (San Antonio),
Iris Burnham (El Paso), Barbara Duke
CAustin) and Jo Stewart (Houston).
Other candidates, at press time, are
Sharon McNeal (Los Alamos, N.M.i) and
Ronnie Collazo (Colorado Springs, Col.).
At least fourteen workshops are
already planned for the conference,
along with a luncheon with guest speaker, Sandra Elkin, of PBS Television
