Transcript cntb!ank mBemammmmmmmmmmMMammaBBSBammumn a lesbian/feminist publication houston, texas vol. II, no. 6 august 1976 Dear Reader, It's been a difficult summer for PBT, as you must by now be aware. Our original goal was to provide a quality monthly vehicle of communication and creative expression for lesbians and feminists in Houston and the surrounding world. I think we have done that, and done it in the face of difficulties you are probably all too familiar with in your own lives — ceaseless personal demands from jobs, lovers, families, pets, bills, and the clock. At this point personal needs (or "burn-out") have taken a heavy toll among our staff members. The remaining staff (less than half of before) will almost be starting from zero again, except that we still have some bills to pay and a huge stack of unanswered mail to wade through. I am tired too. I would sometimes rather lie on the beach than lay out headlines. But I feel that PBT has the potential to solidify the kind of joyous women's community we've seen flashes of, at last year's Rites of Spring, or this year's Meg Christian concerts. We hope to bring our community together more often, for concerts, campouts, whatever, We've seen the potential of this fragile communications link, and we're not going to let it slip through our fingers. We will keep in touch, even if we have to go from offset printing to jumbo Crayolas. This month we bring you only this bulletin; there are some fun happenings in early August we didn't want you to miss. In coming months we will be weighing new approaches for the survival of both PBT and our staff members. In the meantime, thanks for bearing with us. And, if any of you out there in Houston Readerland are interested in working with PBT and are as funny as Rita Mae Brown, as good-looking as Elaine Noble, as athletic as Billie Jean King, and can sing as well as Cris Williamson . . . don't call PBT. You need a body-guard. On the other hand, if you are willing to commit yourself to doing some hard work at non-existent pay, give one of us a call (Claire at 667-0382, Mary Ann or Sharon at 474-3618, or Pokey at 526-7828). If you already volunteered once way back when, volunteer again. We need persistent people like you. Thanks for all your support. Have a good August. ,
