Transcript HCWPC Harris County Women's Political Caucus 3602milam houston 77002 (713)524-5743 NEWSLETTER DECEMBER 1975 CITY ELECTION RUNOFFS DECEMBER 2 Don't forget to vote Tuesday, December 2. Candidates endorsed by HCWPC who are In runoffs are Fred Hofheinz for Mayor and Tina Reyes for School Board, District 3. ERA BENEFIT A SUCCESS The ERA benefit sponsored by the TWPC prior to the opening of the Conference on Women in Public Life was a great success. Not only was our goal of $2500 for the National ERA Fund of the WPC exceeded, but Caucus members had a rare opportunity to meet elected women officials from all over the state. Houston women who sponsored the event were Olga Soliz, B. L. Jamail,_Benegene Kring, Gladys Heldman and Sharon Macha. Thanks also to Katie Dixie, Ann Guggenbuchler and Barbara Granacher, who made special donations. REPORT FROM HCWPC NOVEMBER ACTION MEETING Resolutions from the State Convention were given HCWPC priority ranking for input to the TWPC Legislative Chair. Inputs from the local caucuses will be used to set the TWPC priority rankings for this year. Eileen Elfant will represent HCWPC on the TWPC Political Action Committee. Diane Richards will be our representative to the TWPC Legislative Committee. Margaret Buchorn will represent us on the TWPC Membership Committee. The Policy Council voted to renew HCWPC membership in the Women in Action Coalition for 1976. Plans for a HCWPC membership drive were discussed (details elsewhere in this newsletter). Helen Hopkins has been appointed to her former position as Vice- Chair Internal. We are happy to have Helen back on the Policy Council. TWPC POLICY COUNCIL MEETS DECEMBER 7 The TWPC Policy Council meeting will be held in Austin, Sunday, December 7. This will be an Important meeting and I would like to invite all of you to attend. Meetings of the Committees for Political Action, Legislation, and Membership will be scheduled on the agenda. HCWPC needs Deonie to work on legislative targeting. Those interested
