Transcript flU/TYl fKJW NATIONAL OOOANIZATIOM FPU WOMtN APRIL 1971* NEWSLETTER April Meeting This month's chapter meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 3t at the Austin Women's Center, 1208 Baylor St. There will be coffee available and a get-acqualnted time starting at ?:45. The program, which will run from 8 to 9 pm, will feature a presentation by our chapter's Rape Task Force. Task Force Coordinator Laura Brookshlre and other task force members will present a summary of their Interviews with police and hospital officials on the current treatment of rape victims. They will explain what functions'a Rape Crisis Center could provide that are not currently available In Austin. The Task Force Is currently developing a funding proposal to start a Rape Crisis Center to serve all of Austin. (The University Is also working on opening a Rape Crisis Center; however, It Is funded by the University and will only serve University students.) After the program, there will be a short business meeting for those wishing to stay. Chapter elections, postponed from December, will be held at this time. While the program and business meeting are open to the public, only chapter members are eligible to vote In the election. New Officers A full slate of officers has at last been found from among the many new chapter members. The new officers (and their home phone numbers) are: President, Barbara Duke (476-0510); Vice-President, Lee Sterling (837-0854); Secretary, Gladys Glnn (441-2241); Treasurer, Cathy Albright (472-0845). Chapter Representative to the State Council, Kathy Florlllo (926-286?), was elected In December. The other officers will be nominated at the chapter election to be held at the business meeting on April 3* All chapter members are eligible to run for office; however, since It has taken four months to find one candidate for each office, It Is assumed that they will be unopposed, and they have already assumed office under appointment by the Past President. Several appointive positions have already been filled. These include: Membership Coordinator and Publicity Director Vlckl Glerspeck (44?-2523); Fundraising Coordinator Gladys Glnn (441-2241); Consciousness-Raising Group Coordinator Nancy Van Beek (836-0848); Newsletter Editor and NOW Guide Distributor Sue Blcket (836-9462). Current Task Force Coordinators Include: Rape, Laura Brookshlre (459-8125); Education, Pattl Magee (4??-5397); Women In Sports, Louise Morse (327-0172); Marriage, Divorce and Family, Jane Chandler (472-9977). There will be a business meeting on Monday, April 15f at 7:30 pm, at the home of Barbara Duke, 1907 David St., to develop chapter organization and plan activities for the coming year. Chapter officers, task force coordinators, and other Interested chapter members are urged to attend.
