Transcript TASK FORCE REPORT: MENTAL HEALTH Our counselor referral list now contains about 20 non-sexlst psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, etc. These people have all been totally cooperative about giving phone ar personal interviews. After the Houston Post article appeared there were calls and letters from professional therapists requesting that we interview then so they could appear on our list: Another unexpected result! several of the women psychologists and social workers have asked to join NOW. The article also resulted in up to 20 calls a day from women seeking counseling. If you have been to a therapist please fill out an evaluation form regardless of whether your experience was negative or positive. This Is extremely important if we are to have a comprehensive list. Forms are available at the Women's Center. We also need mare help far the interviewing. If you have some free time during the day or access to a phone at work, come to the next Task Farce meeting. (These will be held the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at 8 p.m.) Several teachers and school counselors have asked us to hold "rap" sessions with their students. We will need people who are free during school hours to help with this. Starting this month we will list workshops and therapy groups which are led by women who are feminists and/or NOW members. If you are Interested in Joining one of the following groups please call them as soon as possible, as all have a limited size. 1) Dale Hill (clinical psychologist) is starting a women's therapy group which will focus on problems women experience which are unique to women in a sexist culture. Experiences will be provided In self-awareness, power Issues, and getting rid of self- defeating behaviors. Meetings will be 7 - 9 p.m. Wed, Fee is $15 per week for 8 weeks. Call 664-2313. 2) Miriam Rothaus and Gene Webb (social workers) are leading a 2 day Constructive Aggression workshop. It is designed to enable you to assert yourself and handle your anger mare effectively. This is open to men and women) couples and singles. Sat., Oct, 19, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Sun., Oct. 20, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Call 528-5228. Registration closes Oct. 11. Limit: 22 persons. Feei $35. 3) Kenwyn Hopper (psychiatric social worker) has several openings in a women's therapy group which was formed to help women deal with personal problems and relationships. This also includes women who are in the process of divorce or its aftermath and are working on identity problems and expressing anger. The group meets Wed. 6 - 7O0 p.m. Fee is $10 per session. Call 784-2925. 4) Gene Webb is leading a 2 1/2 day workshop Far Men Only-- exploring the role of male, husband, father. Discussion, interaction, and self-exploration of pressures and expectations of being a male, Co-leader is Wayne Mc Cleskey. Fee $40, Oct. 4 (evening), 5, and 6. Call 528-5228. 5) Denlse Weinberg (psychiatric social worker) and Miriam Rothaus will lead a one day workshop on Nov. 2 far people who are remarried or are planning to remarry. Couples or individuals. Far mare info on Second Time Around call 528-5228. 6) Denlse Weinberg has openings in a therapy group for single, divorced or married women.
