Two Oscar-nominated actresses, Glenn Close and Australian Judy- Davis, star as lesbian lovers in the TV movie; Executive Producer Barbra Streisand was influential at many steps along the way in making this film happen. Glenn Close plays the highly-decorated Colonel Cammermeyer, who has waged a long battle to be reinstated after the Army kicked her out for being a lesbian. The movie is based on Cammermeyer's recent autobiography, Serving in Silence. The Family Defense Counsel, which "promotes traditional family values," has urged NBC to delete the one lesbian kiss in the movie.
