Transcript PAGE 6 AUSTIN NOW MARCH 1975 NEWSLETTER _____ ___ State Convention ____ As most of you have heard by now, the Texas NOW State Convention will be held in Austin on March 7-9, at the Sheraton Crest Inn, First St. at Congress. The Convention will feature sixteen workshops, and an address by National NOW President Karen DeCrow. A Hospitality Room, catered by The Silver Fox, will provide inexpensive sandwiches an.l drinks throughout the Convention, beginning at 6 pm Friday night. On Saturlay, there will be a Legislative Luncheon, to which chapters are Inviting their Legislators as their guests; the Luncheon will include a film, The Emerging Woman. The current agenda is: Friday 6-10 pm Registration . 6 pm on Hospitality Room open 8 pm Committee Meetings: Resolutions; Elections; By-Laws Saturday 8 am - noon Registration 9-10 am Plenary Session: "State of NOW" by Martha Dickey, State Coordinator; By-laws discussion 10-11:30 am Workshops: Chapter Growth and Development; Sex Discrimination Suits - How to Survive to Enjoy Your Rights; Women in Sports; Rape; Consciousness Raising 12-1:30 pm Legislative Luncheon; Film: The Emerging Woman 1:30-2:30 pm Plenary Session: Nomination of State Officers; By-Laws 3-4:30 pm Workshops: Child Care; Reproduction and Its Control; Financial Opportunities for Women; Criminal Justice; Grants and Fund Raising 4:30-6:30 pm Voting 7-8:30 pm Workshops: Women and the Media; Sexuality and Lesbianism; Rural Organizing; Education; Minority Women and Women's Rights 9 pm Election Results 9:15 pm Special SRA Workshop 9:15 pm on Informal Rap Sunday 10 am Address by Karen DeCrow 10:30-noon Plenary Session: Resolutions If you wish to attend the Convention, please pre-register at once. Pre-reglstratlon for NOW members is $5 through March 1; thereafter and at the Convention it will be $10. (Non-member registration is $20.) In addition, the Legislative Luncheon costs $4.80; sale of Luncheon tickets closes March 5. Child care during Convention sessions will be provided only for those requesting It during pre-reglstratlon. Out-of-town members who wish to stay in the home of an Austin NOW member must also notify us by March 1. Send pre-reglstratlon money and requests to Sue Ricket, Texas NOW Treasurer, 10021 Childress Drive, Austin, TX 78753. We anticipate some difficulty in confirming NOW membership status during registration. We expect to have a copy of the national mailing list for the state; however, it is not always up-to-date or completely accurate. It will speed ycur registration if you will bring some proof of membership status: membership card, a recent issue of D_ _t NOW, or your cancelled check for dues. Note: under national by-laws, 1974 members are considered as members in good standing through March 31, 1975*
