Anthony Day Award to the Austin Rape Crisis Center. February 19: Voted to invite all five Travis County Legislators to be guests of the Chapter at the State Convention's Legislative Luncheon.... Voted to reduce the price of our feminist pendants to $4.50 and $5, and to sell matching earrings for $4.50.... Voted to give #25 of the profits from the Maria Isabel Barreno reception to the NOW International Committee, and to give the remaining $50 to Texans for the ERA.... Voted to have chapter stationery for Austin NOW designed and printed by Sterling Kwlk-Kopy. It will cost about $40.... Voted to get a post office box at the Northeast Station rather than waiting for one more centrally located..,. The President moved to change the chapter by-laws so that the president cannot succeed herself/himself. Current by-laws limit elected officers to two consecutive terms in any one office. Opposition was expressed to the amendment; further consideration and discussion was recommended.... Discussed providing a Chapter phone in the President's home if the Women's Center does not soon obtain an answering device.... Jeff Friedman has asked to speak to us; voted to invite Bud Dryden also, now that he has announced candidacy for Mayor too.... Voted to set up a Program Committee. Anyone interested, please call the President.... Voted to turn Austin NOW's newspaper clippings over to the Secretary, who will put them in a Chapter ■ scrapbook.... Voted to order T-shirts displaying the official International Women's Year symbol. The Chapter will sell them for.$5 each. Ordered 12 each in the two available color choices: navy with red, or powder blue with royal blue. Hope to have them by the Convention.... Voted to Insert the minutes of the business meetings in the Newsletter, even if it requires adding an extra page. Bek Runte _____ _. ______> __y Austin NOW Joined other Texas NOW members on February 13th in celebrating Susan B. Anthony's birthday by lobbying for the ERA at the State Capitol. The day's festivities Included a reception in the Governor's Boom at the Capitol. (We're moving up; last year, It was in the Lt. Governor's Room.) And NOW President Donna Walker-Ashworth accepted a Proclamation of Susan B. Anthony Day from the City Council. Austin NOW capped its day by awarding the Third Annual Susan B. Anthony Award to the Austin Rape Crisis Center in a ceremony at the Capitol. Lee Donaldson, Director of the Rape Crisis Center, and Laura Brookshlre, President of the Board of Directors of ARCC, accepted the award on behalf of all the ARCC volunteers. Austin NOW salutes the Rape Crisis Center for its service to the women of Austin, and offers our continued support. A word of thanks for our publisher, Lee Sterling. Due to a ml sunderstanding, printing of the Award was not ordered until the morning of the 13tb. He printed it in time for the noon ceremony, delivering it to the Capitol himself. Lee - you're a doll!
