Transcript Bay Area Chapter of the National Organization of Women will hold an election for the purpose of selecting officers for the group Thursday night, Nov. 15 at the regular Business meeting• At this time, only one person for each posi- tion has nominated them- self. Nominations will be accepted from the floor. As it stands now: Fary Buxton : president Karge Randal : vice-presddent Ann MeClung: docurr.entarian Marie Marlowe: treasurer The business session will be held in room 229 at the University of Houston Graduate School on Bay Area Boulevard. Clear Lake City Time is 7:30 p.m. Bay Area Chapter National Organization for Women EEOC DIRECTOR FIRED NOW resists expulsion Following an unfavorable report on NASA's progress on the Equal Employment Opportunity Program, Ms. Ruth Bates Harris, co-author of the report has been dismissed from her position. The National Organisation for Women is urging their members to demand an inquiry into this action by NASA Management. An inquiry vrould fall under the auspices of the Senate Committee on Aeronautical and Space Sciences, Frank Moss* Chairperson* Senators to write include: Warren G. Magnuson, D. -Wn. ,•Stuart Symington* D,-Missouri; John S. Sten- nis, D-Miss; Howard W. Cannon, D.-Nev.' James Abourezkj :i.-S.D. : Floyd K. Haskell* A.-Colo. For further information contact Marge Randal at 488-4396. The following resolution has been issued by the Bay Area Chapter: WE BELIEVE that NASA and specifically the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, have an unacceptably bad record in providing equal employment opportunity9 and because, the Center assigned leadership for our new era of space exploration and technology is not yet a part of the new humanity, and because. WE -BELIEVE that NASA and specifically the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, has failed to make a conscientious attempt to eliminate discriminatory practices damaging to minority and women employees and because, Dallas conference channeled toward formation of new NOW chapters LISVE that the 13J Space Center has obstructed attempts ^oy concerned individuals and groups to obtain data necessary to objectively and quantitatively demonstrate the extent of these injustices and because? Hr—n Samuel Lytm &ade 2 courageous and forceful attempt to initiate action toward relieving these injustices and because* WE BELIEVE THAT Dr* James rietcner's actions againso these three people demonstrate an agency policy and an immlicit threat against positive action from within the Agency to bring to light these in jus bices : THE NOW Texas Organising Conference will be held in Dallas, November 17. Any contacts you may have with women in other areas of Texas should be informed of the Conference. This will be an opportunity to share in the collective experience of old and new chapters and obtain needed information on how to convene a new chapter. The conference will be held at the Oak Lawn Methodist church, 3014 Oak Lawn (corner of Oak Lawn and Dedar Springs) on Saturday, Kov.17, from 10 to 5. Registration at the door is $5. Pre-regis- tration is $4. Fees may be waived-if necessary. Fees include lunch.
