Transcript The time draws close for the primary elections here in Texas, On May 5 from 7:00 am till 7:00 pm, you will nave the chance to make your voice count. To those of you who have been putting in untold hours of time and energy working for your candidate our respect and thanks. Each of you if possible should attend your precinct convention. How that process works will be discussed here in the newsletter and also at the program meeting. As most of you are aware National NOW/PAC has endorsed Walter Mondale for the position of President. Bonnie Huval has buttons and bumper stickers for Mondale. Mondale has demonstrated a strong and consistent commitment to women's issues. Texas WOW has also recommended to HOtf/PAC an endorsement for Lloyd Doggett, candidate for Senator. Eor ten years Lloyd has been supporting and fighting for women's issues in the Texas legislature. Texas liOW believes that it is now time he has tne opportunity to fight for us in Congress. In state representative Dist. 130 a number of people feel that finally we have the chance to be represented in Texas* The present representative has voted against women for his last two terms. Marilyn Mieszkuc, lawyer in Clear Lake, past President of the Clear Lake League of Women Voters, fantastic person, is a candidate for this position. Sheila JacksonLee is a candidate for Judge, 215th Civil District Court. Sheila is an attorney in Houston with the following list of awards and recognition for her service; advisory committee to State Treasurer Ann Richards, Board member, Texas Young Lawyers Association; Women in the law Committee, Board member & Former pres., Black Women Lawyers Ass'n. and many others. Elinor Walters is a candidate for Judge, 333rd Civil Dist. Court. Elinor is a practicing attorney here in the Clear Lak Area and a Municipal Judge in the city of Seabrook. She is a professor at UH/CLC and a member of the Bay Area Business & Professional Women's Exchange Club. Michol O'Connor is a candidate for a seat on the 1st Court of Appeals. Many of you may remember that Michol is the person that has worked so hard for the last couple of years to draft and write the changes in the sexual assault laws. V/e all owe Michol a lot of respect and thanks. Barbara Stanley is a candidate for the position of chair of the Democratic Party.
