Transcript November 1973 BROADSIDE Page 5 NOVEMBER PROGRAM MEETING The program meeting on November 7 will deal with the membership of NOW, both present and future. You may recall that Barbara Williams, feminist sociologist, conducted a survey by way of a questionnaire of members' attitudes on sex roles. The results of that survey, along with the results of others given at the same time to groups of women from all social and economic backgrounds, could provide great insight into what makes a feminist and what doesn't. Considering that an outreach into the community, especially the minority community, is one of our goals for the coming year, Barbara's presentation on the study could be valuable. Peg Hall, Membership Director, will be on hand to discuss what she has in mind for the coming year and what experiences she has already had in establishing contacts in surrounding communities. We're hoping that this meeting will have a personal impact on each of us by giving an idea of what brought us to feminism and what could bring others to us. Hope to see you there. PROBLEMS, PROBLEMS We have a problem at the Women's Center. As a matter of fact, we have two problems. The number one problem is this: People who sign up as Center Sitters are NOT SHOWING UP! It is very important that the Center be open and that a responsible person be there to handle any questions, problems, etc. If you find that you can't make it on the day you promised to be there, please arrange for a substitute to take your place. The number two problem is this: People who use the Center (task forces, CR groups, etc.) are NOT CLEANING UP AFTER THEM.- SELVES! Emptying ashtrays and replacing Coke bottles doesn't take much effort. If each one of us cleans up after herself perhaps we will be able to keep our terrific new Center Directors,' Jackie Howard and Rose Marie Lund. The last time I saw those two they were wandering around with pinwheel eyes, muttering to themselves and mooching downers. Ed.
