Transcript Page 4 BROADSIDE November 1973 TASK FORCE REPORTS REPRODUCTION AND ITS CONTROL At the present time the Task Force on Reproduction and Its Control is concentrating on three areas: (1) Abortion - Keeping abreast of and conducting a letter-writing campaign protesting proposed anti-abortion legislation; (2) Doctor Referrals - At the Women's Center we have forms to be filled out by patients about doctors. Please use them and help us build a file on doctors we can and cannot recommend. Also, Harla Kaplan has sent questionnaires to a number of doctors and we hope to have the evaluation of this information available for the next issue of the BROADSIDE. (3) Self-Help - We are in the planning stages for our Self-Help Clinic. Boach, Shannon, Francie and Susan from the Los Angeles Feminist Women's Health Center will be at the Women's Center at 8:00 PM on Friday, November 23, for discussion and demonstration of Self-Help. Also, Carol Downer of FWHC will be at a symposium at the U of H on December 6 - open to the public. The Rape Crisis Center has been split out of the Reproduction Task Force and is now a separate Task Force. Linda Cryer is the Coordinator. Her new telephone number is 748-6915. EMPLOY YOUR SISTERS Please submit your name, phone number and occupation (part-time or full time) for a Professional and Services Directory of NOW and Caucus members to be distributed to BROADSIDE subscribers. This info should be sent to the Women's Center to the attention of Jackie Howard. NEW CONSCIOUSNESS RAISING GROUP TO FORM Young women between the ages of 14 and 18 who are interested in starting a CR group to discuss their particular needs should plan to meet Thursday, November 8, at 7:30 PM at the Women's Center. One suggestion has been made that the group use the book Our Bodies, Our Selves as a starting place. All other suggestions are welcome. For further information call Peggy Mazeika at 522-3483 after 3:00 PM or leave your name and number at the Women's Center. SECOND GARAGE SALE PLANNED The October 14 garage sale was so successful that another one is planned for Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Common Market, 6116 Southwest Freeway. Clothing made up a large portion of the wares and sold very well. Another good seller was the "Bitch is Beautiful" award. Curtains and bedspreads were in great demand, as were housewares, books, magazines, and jewelry. Prices were low and volume high. Bring your items for the next sale (with clothes on hangers) to the Women's Center by 1:00 PM Saturday, November 10, at which time there will be a two-hour organizational meeting. 1974 DUES Be sure to pay your 1974 membership dues prior to January 1. It's the best bargain in town,
