PETITION Robert Lopez, chairman of the Minority Construction Employment Alliance, Inc. of Houston has signed a statement supporting a petition filed by the National Organization for Women with the Federal Communications Commission. The NOW petition asks the F. C.C. require that radio and television licensees file written plans on action taken to hire and upgrade women in radio and television. NOW is seeking support from women's, civic, religious, and civil liberties and rights organizations to support their petition. The Minority Construction Employment Alliance, Inc., formerly the Houston Minorities Council, is a non-profit organization comprised of Houston area minority groups, minority group contractors, local labor unions in the various building trades, and various government advisors. The purpose of the corporation is to negotiate an agreement which will give greater opportunities for training and employment in Houston area construction industry. Barbara Farley, Employment Task Force Chairman of Houston NOW, is a voting delegate. The Child Care Task Force is still conducting a survey of day care facilities in Houston. The questionnaires will provide the basis for factual and more effective lobbying for decent day care center* in the state.
