Transcript U.S. Department of Labor investigations in the Houston area have resulted in $23,000 worth of back pay being given to female bank employees. 9 One hundred nurse's aides in the Houston area will receive $37,000 in additional earnings in the next two years because of enforcement of the Equal Pay Act of 1963. The Pacific Southwest tennis tournament pays $12,500 to the men's singles champion. The women's singles champion receives only $1500., The Association of Women Psychologists (AWP) is asking the American Psychology Association for $1 million for damages psychologists have done to women. Women are the majority in therapy and in institutions. The AWP charges that psychology as it is practiced in our culture contributes to mental illness in women. Women are not viewed as people but as bearers, breeders, and cranky children with uteruses. They are socialized to be servants, admirers, sex objects, and martyrs. The AWP has also demanded that the Association provide funds for women to use in malpractice suits against male psychologists who have used their counseling sessions as a means of having sexual intercourse with their female patients.
