Transcript FOR A GOOD READ, the disproportionate impact of the Reagan budget proposal on women and their families has been researched as part p£na national^effort by the COALITION ON WOMEN AND THE BUDGET. This national campaign by 55 organizations and affiliated local groups reveals the burden of the Reagan budget on women and their families. The Coalition has published a report. ..INEQUALITY OF SACRIFICE: THE IMPACT OF THE RFACAN BUDGET ON WOMEN. To order, send $2.00 to the National Womenfs Law Center 1751 N Street, N.W. Washington, D.C. 20036 202/872-0670 (Infor from the TCFV Newletter, June f83) NEW ORGANIZATION IN THE BAY AREA Bay Area NOW is proud to announce the formation of a new organization in our area, WOMEN FOR SOBRIETY, INC. Women For Sobriety is both an organization and a self- help program for women alcoholics. It is, in fact, the first national self-help program for women alcoholics. WFS has been providing services to women alcoholics since July, 1975- The WFS "New Life" Program grew out of one woman's search for sobriety. Now hundreds of WFS self- help groups are found all across this country and abroad. Until the founding of WFS, it was assumed that any program for recovery from alcoholism would work equally well for women as for men. However, the truth is that, although the physiological recovery from alcoholism is the same for both sexes, the psychological (emotional) needs for women are very different in recovery from those of the male alcoholic. The "New Life" Program of WFS is directed to these specific emotion needs of the woman alcoholic in recovery. A WOMEN FOR SOBRIETY group is now available to women of the Bay Area. The new group began meeting on June 7, 1983 at the League City United Methodist Church, located at 1411 W. Main, League City. Meetings will be continued on every Tuesday evening at 7:30 PM. For further information call Beverly Board at 520-1501. (There are an estimated 5,000,000 women alcoholics in trie United States alone. This number of women alcoholics Is -"equal to the TOTAL population of: Maine, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, New Mexico, and Utah.)
