Transcript CONSCIOUSNESS RAISING....PAT KUHLMANN...488-3278 expressed, nights. If If we start in we start earlier, Consciousness raising is a lifelong process of analyzing information from personal experience, personal feelings and intuitions. The process analyzes the commonality of the female experience, our common problem of living in a sexist society, a society that oppresses all women. With that definition and goal in mind, the Chapter started a CR group on May 24. It will continue through 'July 26 every Tuesday night. We have 9 members and have discussed such subjects as Growing Up Female in a Sexist Society, Relationships with Women, Housework and Women, Women and Money, Women and Power. Other sessions will cover Prositiution/Pornography, Aging and Women, Rape/Domestic Violence, Words/Language and Women, and Reproductive Rights. The next series of sessions will start either in July or August depending on interest August, we will meet on Tuesday v/e will meet on Monday nights. Subjects discussed are decided and approved by the individual groups and will differ from the ones this current group is addressing. Other potential subjects could include Relationships with Men, Women and Religion, Sexual Harrass- ment, Sexuality, Mother/Daughter Relationships, Women and Work and others. There is a CR guideline that states that there shall be no close established relationships between the members; however, in actual practice, that guideline is very negotiable. So, even if you are a long time member of the Chapter, feel free to sign up for a group even though you have close friendships with other members. As long as individuals feel comfortable with each other in the group and as long as absolute confidentiality is observed, CR should deepen existing relationships and form and bond new ones.
