Transcript spring prospectus 2-2-2-2 Brent Chinn, Audrey McMillian and Lionel Wilson were all forced into action after starter Terry Elston went out with a wrist injury. Chinn and McMillian also suffered injuries, but are expected to be at full speed come scrimmage time. Yeoman says all three will get all the work they can handle. Chinn is the most experienced having started four games and seeing action in all 12 last season. Dallas Wiggins, Allen Polk and Robert Durham all will battle for the running back slot vacated by sixth all-time leading rusher Terald Clark. Although Polk is the more experienced, the job is wide open. Both Durham and Wiggins have excellent speed while Polk is more of an inside threat. Both fullbacks, David Barrett and Eddie Wright, are back and squadman Ernie Wesley will also get a hard look. Barrett gained 366 yards to Wright's 280, which indicates this spring could tell the story on who gets the job in the fall. The Cougars lost the entire left side of the offensive line and replacing All-SWC center Randy Swisher, guard Jack Faniel and tackle Robert Jones will be difficult. Billy Kidd will get the first shot, but David Roland and Rory Durham will also be tested there. W.C. Ranson and several others will get a hard look at left tackle. The same situation applies to left guard with Brian Wilkinson a step ahead now—but others mentioned for either left side spot are: Royal Millen, Bo Linden, Scott Marshall Daniel Greenawalt, Bryan Teykl and Duane Losack. Honors candidate Maceo Fifer returns at right tackle, with Ray Rogers as backup. Bobby Grimes returns next to him at guard, but Yeoman will look at several folks there too. Speedburner Lonell Phea returns at split end with able-handed Milton Watson right behind him. Mark Ford will go into the spring as the top tight end, but will face strong competition from Robert Love, Olen Green and Douglas Jackson. Competition at flanker is not crowded, but it will be heated between Leon Felder and Willie Lawson. (MORE)
