Transcript SWC Players in the NBA Draft The NBA held its first college draft prior to the start of the 1947-48 season, but records prior to 1959 are unavailable. Through 1956, the NBA listed drafted players by each team, not by round. Beginning in 1957, the draft is recorded round by round. The Southwest Conference players listed are those that actually played in the league. Therefore players are not listed if that team was not in the SWC while he was a member of that team. The first number is the draft round. The second number is the overall position drafted. 1949 Boston New York New York Washington Bill Tom, Rice Bob Prewitt, SMU Ken Kearns, Arkansas Jim Owens, Baylor 1950 Indianapolis New York Rochester Washington Gene Schmidt, TCU Don Heathington, Baylor Warren Switzer, Rice Jim Cathcart, Arkansas 1951 Rochester Tri-Cities Tri-Cities John Brown, SMU Bob Ambler, Arkansas John DeWitt, Texas A&M 1952 Milwaukee Philadelphia Rochester George McLeod, TCU Walter Davis, Texas A&M Jewell McDowell, Texas A&M 1954 Minneapolis Gene Schwinger, Rice 1955 Fort Wayne Ray Warren, TCU 1957 1 2 4 6 10 3 16 31 44 72 Minneapolis Boston Syracuse St. Louis St. Louis Jim Krebs, SMU Dick O'Neal, TCU Jerry Mallett, Baylor Raymond Downs, Texas Bobby Mills, SMU 1958 4 5 6 2S 37 46 Philadelphia Syracuse St. Louis Temple Tucker, Rice Fred Grim, Arkansas Rich Herrscher, SMU 1959 2 4 5 s 0 27 33 50 Detroit (from Cincinnati) Philadelphia Cincinnati Minneapolis Tom Robitaille, Rice Ron Stevenson, TCU Harry Kirchner, TCU Leon Hill, Texas Tech 1960 2 5 0 40 Cincinnati Boston Jay Arnette, Texas Wayne Lawrence, Texas A&M 1961 7 0 63 83 Los Angeles Chicago Albert Almanza, Texas Steve Strange, SMU 1962 3 4 0 20 33 70 Detroit Los Angeles Chicago Harold Hudgens, Texas Tech Jan Loudermilk, SMU Carroll Broussard, Texas A&M 1963 8 68 St. Louis 1964 4 34 San Francisco 5 39 Baltimore 8 69 St. Louis 1965 10 79 St. Louis 14 102 Cincinnati 1966 3 28 Boston 5 45 Baltimore (from Boston) 6 52 Detroit 1967 3 21 Detroit 7 74 Cincinnati 11 122 Seattle 1969 11 153 Los Angeles 14 173 Chicago 16 186 Milwaukee 16 190 Baltimore 17 192 Milwaukee 1970 8 127 Portland 1971 4 67 New York 6 92 San Diego 7 105 Portland 7 119 Milwaukee 9 139 Portland 15 218 Buffalo 1974 4 59 Houston 5 87 Chicago 6 96 Atlanta 1975 6 101 Houston 1976 1 17 Golden State 3 45 Phoenix 4 57 New York 5 78 Houston 7 114 Houston 8 132 Houston 1977 1 2 Kansas City (from N.Y.
