Supervisor of Officials in May, 1991. He has worked ^^'Mflr ^Ih cl°sely wimf°ur SWC Commissioners on officiating H^S M I improvement and development. mmmmM m ' mmmmmmM j^ nanve 0f Itasca, Texas, and a longtime resi dent of McKinney, Shelton officiated in the SWC and several post-season games during his on-the-field-tenure. Shelton has worked on the officiating crew of two USF&G Sugar Bowl contests (both as referee), the Sunkist Fiesta Bowl, the Sea World Holiday Bowl, the Independence Bowl, the Mirage Bowl in Tokyo, Japan, and two Pioneer Bowls in NCAA post-champhionship play. He has also coached high school athletics, taught or served in school administration in Lubbock, McKinney and Dallas (at Hillcrest, Kimball and Spruce High Schools) before entering private business in the late 1970's. A member of the Southwest Officials Association for over 30 years, Shelton received both his undergraduate and master's degrees at the University of North Texas. Shelton is married to the former Peggy Mayfield and they have two sons, Jay and Jim. Dale Kelley Supervisor of Men's Basketball Officials Dale Kelley is in his third year in association with the Southwest Conference as its Supervisor of Men's Basketball Officials. Kelley spent the last eight seasons as the supervisor of men's basketball officials in the Metro Con- I ference, Conference USA (the new circuit composed of Great Midwest and Metro Conference teams as well as Houston) and the Sun Belt Conference. A highly-successful basketball official who worked three NCAA Final Fours, Kelley boasts an impressive resume both on and off the basketball court. He was a Southeastern Conference basketball official from 1970-85, a tenure in which Kelley officiated in nine consecutive NCAA tournaments. Kelley currently serves as the mayor of Huntingdon, Tenn., and is a member of the County Commission of Carroll County. He has served as the commissioner of the Tennessee Dept. of Transportation from 1985-87 and was a member of the State House of Representatvies from 1978-84. Kelley has also served in several capacities for the city of Huntingdon and was a member of the President's National Advisory Council on Adult Education. A graduate of Bethel College in McKenzie, Tenn., Kelley played basketball and baseball and in 1981 was inducted into the school's hall of fame.
