QUOTE: Denise Thiemard, Nebraska, Women's Javelin Winner: "I wasn't real disappointed Wednesday during the trials. It was just a goal and I wanted to get to the finals. My goal today was just to win. It was hot, really hot, and I was not used to the weather. When your hands are wet frcm sweat it makes it hard to threw the javelin, that was the main problem out there today, again you were just dying. This meet was really a different meet, it was the biggest all season and I was quite nervous. I wanted to win, I didn't go for any record. NOTE: With the victory Thiemard remains undefeated in 1983. Previously she had won the Big 8 championship and the Drake Relays and had a season best of 201-3.
