Transcript W elcome On behalf of the Unversity of Houston and Pine Forest Country Club, it is a genuine pleasure to welcome you to the 14th Annual All-America Golf Championships. We sincerely hope your stay here will be most enjoyable and fruitful. We at the University of Houston consider it a privilege to play host to 20 of the finest golf teams in the nation. We would like to express our appreciation to the members of Pine Forest Country Club who are taking an active part in promoting and staging what many observers believe to be the most interesting and exciting golf championships in America. We are very proud to be host to so many championship teams. Teams in the field this year won over 50 different championships last year. We are grateful to the many civic-minded persons and companies who have supported this tournament. We also want to thank members of the TV, press and radio for their cooperation. Without their help, this undertaking would have been impossible. The site, picturesque Pine Forest Country Club, is truly a championship course in every respect. It is heavily wooded with beautiful pine and oak trees and the fairways are very narrow. It stretches out over 6900 yards and par is 36-36—72. The greens and fairways are well trapped and generally is considered one of the toughest tests of golf in the world. We realize that some of the All-America competitors in this tournament, like those of yesterday, will be the community leaders and great golfers of tomorrow. We're proud to have you in our tournament . . . and we wish each and every one of you the best of luck. Sincerely, DAVE WILLIAMS Tournament Director We salute Channel 13 for their great coverage of the 1965, 1966, 1967 and 1968 All America Golf Championships. ON BACK COVER: Montage of All America action. Top: C. T. Parker presents the dozen red carnations to the 1968 All America Golf Queen Miss Penny Graves. Center: UH 'Spirit' action. Bottom: Rik Masengale of Texas U. blasts out of the trap on the 72nd hole of the tournament.
