Transcript January 10, 1986 Ms. Helen Hunter 7=310 Corporate Drive, #409 Houston, Texas 77036 Dear Ms.Hunter: Regarding our telephone conversation of last week, I would like to mention that before I became active with the Magnolia Park Civic Club, I had a business at 76th and Ave K. It was there that I saw school children wade through water to get across the street to the Immaculate Heart of Mary School. After telephoning and writing the City of Houston for a long, long time the city finally cleaned the main sewer line and the flooded intersection was eliminated. Moreover, The Civic Action Committee which we formed to help Gonzalez was changed to PASO (Political Association of Spanish Organizations). I served this organization in the capacity of Chaplain. I was active in Poll Tax drives throughout Houston, attended state conventions and precinct conventions. My education is as follows: Graduated from Elliott Business College Graduated from the Houston Community College with an Associate in Arts Graduated from the University of Houston with B.A. in Secondary Education in Spanish and Speech. I have been teaching for the last four years. Before this, I was an Administrative Secretary for 10 years to an American scientist at the University of Texas in Houston. It took me 10 years of evening classes to get my degree. Attached are some newspaper clippings that pertain to my activities. Very truly yours, Mary S-l Lopez Attachments (3) P.S. I was born in Brownsville, Texas, but have lived in Houston since I was an infant.
