Regular OG meeting. Our chairman will operate the slide projector. If you have any slides of vacation trips this summer or of subjects interesting to the group, please bring them. Subjects are not restricted to birds. Please contact Jerry Baker, WA 1-2644, and tell her how many slides you will bring. August 24 (Saturday) O.G. Field Trip to Galveston beach and jetties. Ralph Hunter, leader. Meet at East end of seawall at jetties at 10 AM. Trip will end at the beach for a swim. September 29 (Sunday) O.G. Field Trip. Gulf pelagic trip aboard the "Captain Doc". Cost: $5.00 per person. For reservation send $1.00 deposit to Jerry Strickling, 5118 W. Bellfort, Houston 35. The deposit will apply toward the total cost, remainder payable on board the "Doc". A refund will be made if the trip is cancelled. The boat will leave pier #7 at the Galveston Yacht Basin at 8 AM, return at 6 PM. The "Doc" is licensed for 99 persons; however, the trip will be limited to 50 persons. First come first served. All previous trips have been sold out so get your reservations in early. This will be the 4th pelagic trip sponsored by TOS Region 8 and the Houston OG. All have been highly successful. Expected pelagic birds are Blue-Faced Booby, Gannet, Wilson's Petrel, Pomarine Jaeger, Parasitic Jaeger, Magnificent Frigate Bird, Shearwaters, et al. (I'm an optimist, I always "expect" birds.) All previous trips have been aboard the "Doc". There is a spacious open deck, large enclosed cabin and rest room facilities. Food and drink are sold on board. Bring along your picnic baskets, suntan lotion, jugs, binoculars, ice chest, etc. There is plenty of room for comfort and we'll see you on board. Jerry Strickling
