Famed for the Deryni fantasy series, Katherine1 s most recent book is "Camber the Heretic.11 (To be released this Fall).She will be in attendance all three days. Also for this convention we are having a fan Guest of Honor. Greg Akers has attended all of our conventions and, as far as we know, only one other—ever! Does this make him our #1 fan? AWARDS DINNER The Awards Dinner will be on Saturday, July 26 at 1:30 p.m. Featured will be the Guests of Honor Awards,the Fritz Leiber Fantasy Award, the Bob Clampett Animation Award, the Clark Ashton Smith Poetry Award and special tributes paid to Mike Jittlov and George Pal by Dr. Donald A. Reed, President of the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, The dinner is $12 per person and will feature swiss steak. Please order NOW so we can let the hotel know how many to expect. ; CABARET Featured Friday evening will be the popular Cabaret. This program was a big hit at the Science Fiction Weekend. Spotlighted was the folk and filk singing of Dorothy Fontana, Lynn Barker, Karen Willson and Cynthia McQuillan among others.For Fantasy faire we have added more belly dancers, more group singing and a magician. Audience participation is invited. COSTUME CONTEST This exciting program will be held on Sat. evening and will be emceed by Marion Zimmer Bradley. If you wish to enter, write for entry, forms or pick them up at the Registration Table before 5:30 Sat., July 26. You are invited to come in costume whether or not you enter the contest.- Come as your favorite -j.f. character. SPECIAL PROGRAMS After the costume contest Katherine Kurtz will demonstrate Scottish Country Dancing, Darkover (Hastur's Fancy) and Deryni (Lady Bronwyn's Reel) style. On Saturday morning; Katherine will read from her latest book "Camber the Heretic ",cHid sign autographs. On Sunday Marion Zimmer Bradley and her group will present a play, "The Free Amazons of Ghor? Based on the counter-earth stories,the satire was written by Randall Garrett and Vicki Ann Heydron. On Saturday Mike Jittlov will do a talk & show the film 'All About the Wizard." Steve Rubin will talk and show film clips on the James Bond movies & the book he's . writing. Bob Burns will show slides and talk about the Halloween shows he's presented over the years. He'll also show a short film "Major Mars," a take-off on Space Patrol. Morris Scott Dollens has agreed to show ,v the movie, "Space Pioneers, " Which he made in the early fifties. Morrie did all the model work and sets as well as shooting the film. Don Rico will show slides of his comic collection and work in this field and there will be other programs by Bob Clampett,C. L. Moore, Fritz Leiber, George Clayton Johnson, Stephen Goldin and Kathleen Sky (the Convention emcees) and others.
