DescriptionArmy tents loaned by Fort Sam Houston for housing 185 interned women from the district whom city physician Dr. W. A. King and his city and county physicians assistants had inspected and refused health certificates, now taking free treatment by the county. Photographed at the county Poor Farm, May 31, 1917. The city pays 66%, the county pays 34%. Future generations will pay 100%. There are 5, 000 such women in San Antonio and Bexar county under protection of the mayor and the sheriff. These tents are in 300 yards of 46 boys of the Bexar county house of correction.
