The Neils Esperson building, the Lamar Hotel, the west wing of the Rice Hotel, an addition to the Second National Bank building, and the Kirby building are all shown in various stages of construction. Also visible in the lower left of the photograph along McKinney Avenue is the old Carnegie Library next to the First Presbyterian Church. (p. 20-21 "Houston: The Feast Years")
