| Transcripts | National Organization for Women BAY AREA CHAPTER NATIONAL ORGANIZATION for women September 27, 1989 For Bay Area NOW Members and Supporters: The combined newsletter for Bay Area-UHCL NOW will be arriving at your home after our program meeting. Consequently, I want to let you know about the program meeting that has been arranged by Rusty Richards for our meeting on October 5 1989 at 7:30 pm in the Uniting Church. The topic of our program is - "Houston Area Women's Center- Then and NOW". We are honored to have as our guest Elizabeth Glenn, long time Bay Area NOW member and long time women's activist. Elizabeth has been working with the Houston Area Women's Center since 1979. Before that she was active on the Texas NOW Education Task Force that set up the criteria on Text Book Reviewing. She is a great example of the type of members that Bay Area NOW attracts. A person who believes greatly in the ideal of equality and works long and hard to see that equality is achieved. Our program will begin at 7:30 pm. We also have quite a bit of other news that needs to be discussed. Such as the Texas NOW State Conference; the rally in Washington, D.C. on November 12, 1989; the rally in Austin, Texas on November 12, 1989, (yes, there will be 2 rallies. You can attend the rally of your choice that day); the upcoming change in by-laws for Bay Area NOW; the T-Shirt sale at the state convention; the rally in Galveston on October 29, 1989 at the state convention; and many other topics that I cannot think of right now. Please pass the word about the program meeting to persons that might like to hear about the Houston Area Women's Center. I promise that the combined newsletter will get out in time next month before our program meeting. If you would like to work on the newletter, please give me a call. We need all the help we can get!
