| Transcript | Head Quarters July 29th/69 My dear Son I wrote you before leaving Gal, hope you get the letter. We reached home safely with Mrs Harrison, and since her arrival she has improved greatly, Betsey and her little girl came with me, I hired her, at $8.00feeling wilted down by having to overhal myself so much, I can keep her two months certain and by that time the weather will be cooler. I dont know how much longer Miss Howland will be here, but rather think she will leave before long, Mrs McCue will move early next week I have not found my pocket Book and from a remark Mrs Harrison made I will have to pay Miss Howland and Mrs Roberts too just as soon as you can send me ten dollars in currency so I can settle it I will tell you --------------------------------------------- all about it when I see you, I am out of coffee and flour, have you any half Barrels of Flour if so save one for me. The Peaches are ripe I wish you could come down but of course I well know your time is not your own. Today I go over to get my self typed dont know how it will come out I would like to have one Barrel if you can get a cheap one at to use in wine making. I have made the enqu iry about the kind of sugar , the cheap- est wet sugar will answer, and one and a half lbs to the Gallon. I have no time to say more at present, my Sincerest regards to the Sydnor and family with much love for your self As ever you loving Mother Mary Jones |
