| Transcript | [Letter from Sallie Ashe to Cromwell Jones] Crystal Creek Apr 26th 1876 Dear Crommie We failed getting what garden seed we wanted in Willis and it has just occurred to me that I could send to you Please get me two papers of late Drenched cabbage & one large Purple EggPlant\ and send to Ma in W. & I will get these in a few days Husband is busy today having his Cheatham cotton planted, he is through planting corn and this week will wind up ac the planting generally We have just moved to our final location or habitation rather but have not the the [sic] house finished entirely so you can imagine we are living in a rather primitive style, All keep well, Husband suffers a great deal with his back , and can do but very little --------------------------------------------------- I received the papers ( New York Heralds) you sent me for which accept thanks I suppose you have been encouraged in this and have taken your first steps in public life. Give my love to all the folks up to the Home - we would be highly delighted to see you out in the wild woods and would give you a rare bit of sport at anything. I hope we will be able to bring Ma out next week for it is terribly dull in the thicket I am just like I always was your Sister Sallie S Ashe |
