Transcript[1] [no place, no date] I supposed the half sheet I commenced this note on would be all sufficient - Doct Frost will no doubt be able to put up this Prescription for you, it should not cost you more than forty cts all told that is beside the Whiskey Take it three times a day just before eating But first the system should be free freed from bile by some medicine I have no doubt but it will do you much good, and in case you cannot get it put up there send to Aschoffs ---------------------------- drugstore in Galveston and you can get it put up there, and it will be put up in the right quantities I have not heard from Mrs Harri- son since she left, nor have I written to her. As I have been very much occupied all the time Nellie the little negro has been sick for the last week. I sometimes doubt if she ever gets well, she has slow, or low, night fevers which I find very dif- ficult to break up Sam wants to go and I must ------------------------------- close write me how you get along particularly in regard to your health As ever your loving Mother Mary Jones [2] [no place, no date] Tell Mr. Ashe Gaston will come out much better than he expected in a final settle -ment with the state, he is constantly disposing of sirep [sic] which will and collecting Taxes which will be a big help in his final settle- settl ment with the state &c &c Gas will have to go to Austin before the present comptroller goes out of office to settle make his final set -tlement ----------------------------------- All the better class and negroes too regret his going out of office As the threat has already been made that so soon as he does "We will turn this damed little Town up -side down" &c &c There is a jar of Brandy Peaches in my wardrobe get them out for yourself & Sam Remember me to Ara Tell her I hope she gets along well
