| Transcript | Sour Lake July 26th 1882 My Dear Son Yours of the 24th Inst received yes- -terday, was glad to hear from you, And some of the pet interests I left behind. This is a very buisy [sic] place We rise go to the Lake, drink and return so as to get ready for breakfast Then we go to the lake & drink again & at about 10 Oclock take a mud bath. At about 5 Oclock take the sour bath & drink more water. I find the waters affect me differently from what they did last year. My appetite is greatly improved tho my digestive organs continue weak - My food souring & giving me pain almost every day - Now that it has stop[p]ed raining I may feel more benefit in every way I think I can safely say that Sallie is recei- ving much benefit - Cant judge so well as to Mary what will be the result I find many pleasant people here. Met Mr & Mrs Raymond niece & great niece the latter a six year old child Mr R & his wife ---------------------------------------------------------- appeared much gratified at meeting me Once again after a separation [sic] of nearly 38 Years - There are others here whose parents I knew in the long past, who made themselves known to me. Mrs Lathem and Miss Lucy are here; George Fitzgerald also Everything here is so changed and improved the Hotel proper is very comforta- -ble we are in a two story building some twe- -nty steps from the Main building it has sixteen rooms in it two halls & gal all the length fronting south east. No building or room even is finished all rough ceiled only - All parts seem to be well furnished nice beds & Bars Bureau washstand & small table The table is well furnished, I would be satisfied to be able to live as well - Tell Kate to wash the window blinds next week & tell her howdy for me I hope she takes the spare vegitables [sic] to Willie - Am thankful poore [sic] little Ell is doing so well, I left him weeping I often think of him Tell him I feel very happy at hearing -------------------------------------------------------------- he is such a good boy - was surprised at your not hearing from Sam, Let me know if you do hear - Miss Lucy Sydnon is here a guest of Mrs. Willis Not until this morning did I get a paper tho I have read the Post daily Mr Baymond hands it to me every day so I kept posted some -what - 8 Oclock it is raining here again should it rain much more I will return the last of this week tho I will advise Sallie to stay longer With much love to all at Gas- tons & tell Willie I feel so much obliged to her for her good management of Ell Affectionately Your Mother Mary Jones -------------------------------------------------------------- Sallie intended to write today but the Baby is unusually cross and has prevented her doing so - she says do her the favor to say this to some of the family as they will feel anxious to hear something from her M J |
