| Transcript | Willis Dec 7th 1880 My Dear Son I write to say that Sallie is some better that is, she does not have so much fever, Gaston & I think sometimes her fever is entirely off - but Doct. Jordan says she still has some pretty much all the time. She is continually taking medicine to act on her liver & in the course of every twenty four hours she vomits up a quantity of sometimes yellow bile, but mostly dark greenish color. In many respects she is afflicted as she was after the birth of Little Dickey - In this case she has had more fever. The blister has doubtless been of ser -vice tho it has pretty much dried up notwithstanding I dressed it with cabbage leaves - Her tongue is still thickly coated, notwithstanding after all the medicine she has taken - her skin dry - two days ago (at the time the fever was first checked) there was some perspi- ration came out while she slept - since then it has been dry all the time - I never was so complete ly at a loss what conclusion to come to Doct Jordan thinks that there must be a favorable change ---------------------------------------------------------------------- very soon, that is a decided change for the better As I have before stated she looks badly and cannot not take any nourishment of any kind, not even Gum arabic water but that she vomits it Up. She complains of everything she has tried to take in the way of nourishment lays heavy and produces nausea [sic] - followed by vomiting I have hoped for days & days past to see her Better. With kind regards to Ara Love to Sam & yourself Mary Jones I will get some letter paper before I write Again I saw it mentioned in the Montgomery Journal last week that poor [sic] Milam Hubby had been sentenced to be hung the14th of January |
