| Transcript | Nov 12th 1880 Dear Son I did not get your note and letter until near 8 Oclock too late to reply Do as you think best about sending your fathers portrait to Austin. And your art will meet my approval I was glad to hear that you & Sam were well Tell Sam to write me if he has time I forgot to make any provision for Ara's months hire which is up Today. I owe her six & a half on the past month - had paid her $1.50 before I left home, perhaps Sam can let her have the amount Sallie has not been so well for the two past days. The Doct. was here today and has relieved her. We are hoping to keep her from having an attack of fever as heretofore after her confinements ----------------------------------------- I feel terribly anxious to get home, as you do not tell me anything about how you get along there without me I think Sallie will need me for ten days longer as much nearly as at any- time up to date I received my on an other bale of Cotton sold today my fourth for rent. The Box of fruit you sent Sallie reached her safely for which she sends many thanks. The Grapes she enjoyed very much. We bake an Apple for her occasionally as she cannot eat them raw With much love from Your Mother, Mary Jones -------------------------------------------- [Written upside down at bottom of letter] I see by the paper that you the Commissioners Court is in session no doubt you are very buisy [sic] all the time |
