TranscriptDresden Saturday Nov 1st 1879 My Dear Son I shall expect to hear from you toady. The norther I had to ride out here in last Monday gave both Ell & myself a severe cold - with sore throat today I am feeling much better throat is relieved , my cough is soft and easy. Yet I do not feel well but am keeping in closely and doubtless in will feel well & alright in a few days. Yesterday was a terrible cold windy day. But today is quite pleasant. I find none of my folks here have tight warm houses and I do not think a long stay will be advisable in consequence. As soon as I feel well enough to go our we are all going up to Julias ----------------------------------------- to Blooming Grove will spend two nights and a day there, the same with Sarah Jane Skiles and so on, back here. And will hold myself in readiness to re -turn as I may deem best be the middle or a little past the middle of November at any rate before severe cold weather sets in as it is so much colder here than down in our section. My Vien Bethr went home with Squire to help him move, and may not unless the weather continues dry return while I stay Mr Johnstons Brother is still alive, but still no hopes of his recovering at last account Thursday last. Elliot has not suffered with cold as --------------------------------------- heretofore is out Today pulling or pushing an old buggy with little Robert Skiles he has not had a severe cough as usual with cold tho I kept him in yes -terday out of the cold wind I have had no more spells of fee -ling nervious [sic] have gained strength all the time not with standing my having a cold, and with care will feel well in a few days I trust Tho continue too much so to write fit to be seen With much love to Sam and yourself From Your Mother Mary Jones --------------------------------------- [written on back of letter] Yours of the29th received last evening contents all noted.
