| Transcript | May 22 - 1879 Dear Son As Samuel goes down in the morning I drop you a line to ask you to hand him for me seven dollars. I was out of money today when he let me have four dol. And when he was here before, he done some work for Mr.Grant Wiggins wife to the amount of three dollars, which Mr W. asked me to pay Sam, as as I was owing him for mak- ing Bails for my Wiggins farm. You will no doubt remember that I have to pay for all new rails the place needed &c &c &c. Sam said to me if it was not that he would need all he could raise -------------------------------------- to meet expenses he would be glad to let it go to assist me. By the way I will have somewhere about sixteen dollars to pay for Rails, and hauling them, which is due Gaston may have settled for them. I wished you could have been here today at din -ner to enjoy the vegetables with with us. My garden is fine furnishing an abundant supply. I will not sell my Pota- -toes, nor my onions as I can keep both. And toward the latter part of summer these two articles are scarce & high Hope to see you soon With much love from Your Mother M J We need rain here very much |
