Transcript[Written in another hand at top of page 1] Ansd. Mch. 14 ------------------------------------------- Willis March 11th./79 My Dear Son Yours of the 6th and another date remembered, and just now cannot lay my hand upon it, has reached me I regret to say that for several days past I have felt quite unwell. Have had toothache in the main Time. Today I feel much better tho not strong. This dry warm weather does not agree with me altogether I had received a letter from Sam of the 1st of March containing about what he had written you. With one of the cards of invitation & a Photograph likeness of himself. He said in his last that he would write me again before leaving. I supposed Sam would come here, not to Houston tho he has not said which way he would come but thought he would come on the Great Northern --------------------------------------------------------- train. I shall be glad to see him, and many here are saving work for him I shall for one have a job ready. Elliot has had terrible attack of toothache with his face so swollen that one of his eyes was almost closed it lasted a week. My Garden looks well though many seed have not come up want of rain, to make things grow. I had a mess of boiled Greens from my garden today which I rel- ished very much after being without anything in the form of a vegitable now over four weeks. My Peas are in Bloom, Lettuce mustard & shallots will be large enough to use very soon If you do not come up very soon please send me a little more money by Tomorrow or next days mail. I have forgotten I believe to acknowledge the rest of Ell's valentine[e] which pleased him very much. He is so impatient to see his Papa Affectionately Your Mother Mary Jones
