TranscriptWillis Oct 8th./77 My Dear darling Son Your anxiously looked for letters came this morning & after reading it I gave up the idea of purchasing the and will board at Mrs Goldens God knows my dear child what happiness it would afford me to be near you, but at present must forego that pleasure, hoping we may at no distant day be better able to do as we would like. I am too nervous to write more but when I am more composed & have more time will write you more in detail. Gaston came for me last evening to go out to spend say two weeks with Sallie & get to get my winter clothing after which I will return here will want my trunk &c sent up here, but if in the mean time you find it conven- ient you can send them to Sams care I received a letter this morning form Mrs Ashe will reply as soon as I can. Mrs Jordan is sick tho better today. With a thousand thanks to you dear son for your good advice & and affection interest my heart and eyes are too full to say more In love your Mother Mary Jones ---------------------------------------------------- will leave here in about two hours
