| Transcript | Gonzales Co Moulton June 2nd./77 My Dear Son I reached Flatonia at 5 Oclock where I met Mr. Nations & Sister Eliza witth a nice two horse wagon spring seats & in which we took my Trunk and all of us comfortably. Mr Nations drove out about two Miles to Mr Obars and acquaintance of his where we passed the night (a very nice place by the way) After an early Breakfast he started for their place reached here at Eleven Oclock. I felt much fatigued, and Thursday & Friday was quite unwell kept my bed & had to take medicine it is now eleven Oclock and Saturday morning I have just eat my first meal since Wednsday and feel very much better tho a little nervous, by tomorrow will feel as well as usual no doubt. Sister Miranda was here to meet me with all her children (seven) All seem delighted at my coming and are doing everything at make me comfortable and feel at home If I continue to improve as I ----------------------------------------------------- am certain almost I will do will go over to Mirandas tomorrow eveng Sunday she lives a mile & a half from Eliza. They both have buggies and can go at any time Sister Eliza is very comfortably situated has a large yard well shaded a large garden full of vegetables Plums in great abundance now ripe & will have more Peaches & Grapes than a dozen such families could consume, and a fine crop growing They seem to have every- thing plentiful. how I enjoy having plenty of nice fresh butter & milk The breeze here is so strong it almost blows me away. I wish poor Sallie had some of it Please write to her & let her know I reached here safely I feel too nervous to write her today Mails come to Moulton ( Lavaca Co. remember) only twice a week and I may not have an other opportunity of sending a letter in in time for the Next Tuesdays mail. Elliot suffered with his cough very much the three first nights after I left but now is much better and seems to be enjoying himself with the little folks ------------------------------------------------------ Both my Sisters children are bright pretty children, not a homely child among them Remember me in much love to Mrs. Ashe & family Mrs Gregg also let Sam know I reached am here safely here With much love and best wishes from your Mother M Jones. will write you more in detail when I feel stronger |
