| Transcript | June 25th/74 Dear Son When I reached Corsicana I found Brother there with a bu ggy to take me to Mr Barries to pass the night where I had a nice time, came out here yesterday Mr. B had received your letter and of course the Telegram & assured me that in case Brother had not been on hand he would I am tolerably well situated here met a very cordial welcome and hope to get along Nell['s] baby is improv ing in all respects and all seem anxious to become acquainted with him so they can amuse him. I like the well water very much it is cold & taste well. Plums are just getting ripe also early Peaches Brother has thirteen large Apple trees loaded down with Apples They are badly of[f] for house room ----------------------------------------------- so we live out on the galery and under the shade trees I enjoy the milk & butter and Mice corn bread Brother lives very well but has a poor house good garden chickens eggs milk & butter & vegetables it has rained all round here his garden is suffering & soon the corn will suffer I cant write any more to day Give my love to Mrs Ashe and Miss Mary hope the Robbers have not disturbed them with best wishes and much love for your dear self I am as ever your loving Mother Mary Jones |
