| Transcript | At Gastons March 4th, /71 Dear Son I was very glad to get yours by Mr. Little, which reached me yesterday Friday. I feel glad Gen. Ward has charge of that annoying matter, at Gal[veston], some how or other I think he will get it settled for me without giving us any further trouble. I hope you have not failed to state to him all the facts. You did not tell me how you liked him Well I am here and feel tolerably well contented, if Sis had any one to stay with her I would come up to see Mrs. Sam Ashe a few days in the course of a week or too Gaston is still trying to get a boy to help Here. he says for you & Sam Ashe to look out for some one white or black no matter so he can help make garden and help milk the cow, as we have one up now Today I intend to go up home and stay all night have not been back since I left Friday Sallie & I came down in Sams buggy the evening you left, until within the last day or two I have no felt well. I am resting up, will take you shirts five in number up to Mrs Brown by some opportunity send me an other dollar to pay her. The mate- rial was ample to make five shirts so I put it all into shirts for you As ever your loving Mother M Jones |
