| Transcript | Head Qrs [place and date in another's hand] Apr 30th, 1870 Dear Crommy, Last evening Sam brought me a letter from Norwood and a re= lease to me from all the heirs for a Lot the one I told you about which Chappell thought he owned Norwood settled with him by compromise, got five hundred dollars from Chappell for our deed. he Norwood has sent up a release from all the heirs to me which will enable me to settle up the matter, and get my share of the money, which is 250 dollars. I want you to sign it before in the presence of some one who can go before a Notary public monday Next and make oath to the same which will save you from having to go down there for that purpose. You must give the wit= ness 75 cts to pay for his notarial, whoever he may be request him to Call at Wm Johnsons office any time between 8 Oclock & 12 and I will have the Release Deed deposited there so as to not detain him one moment, or he can go with me to Johnsons Office from the Boat which will be better, as I wish to close up the matter Monday in time to retu= rn on the same Boat Send me about ten dollars if you can spare that much, either by Sam, or on the Boat, so I can get it this evening The money I will get by this ------------------------------------------------- lucky "turn up" will enable me to pay uyp the most of our Taxes per= haps all of what is now due which will releave us all very much par= ticularly poor me I am much pleased With the domestic & other things As ever your loving Mother Mary Jones. NB, be certain to attend to signing this re- lease this evening without fail as Mr. Norwood leaves Galveston Monday evening Next & I must have it settled while he is there & further you had better send the money by the Boat with the release deed. then I need not wait for Sams return as I will go to Mrs Roberts and get one of the Boys to take me out |
