| Transcript | April 25th, 1870 [in another's hand] My Darling Son, Today Monday I am on my way home, not hav- ing made any certain arrangm- ents for getting money I met Mr. Shaw an old friend and through some exertions and interest he will doubtless aid me in disposing of all that Nueces land 12, 363 Acres he said to me that he would see a party this present week whom he felt almost certain would take it all Then again I have some visible prospect of ma= king something out of some ten Acre lots I find we have on the Island - I think my week here will result in some good although we can- not see it right now. I paid the Oliver Jones note of $900 with six hundred & forty Acres of wild western land --------------------------------------- which is a good turn for us I hope you will come down soon as I have several and sundry things to say to you I feel incouraged & hopeful "something will turn up" I think before a great while that will relieve us of some of our anxiety and you dear son will be remembered. But this you already know I spent my time with old friends Sam Mr Shaw & Mrs Lemon the latter I knew when a little girl Mrs Norwood & sister I knew when little girls had rather a pleasant time all things con- sidered As ever your loving Mother M Jones |
