DescriptionRobert Graebner spent nearly all of his career at GSI, where he provided a crucial interface between research and operations. He received a bachelor's degree in engineering physics from the Colorado School of Mines in 1948 and joined GSI the next year. He became a geophysicist of international stature at GSI. He held a series of management positions at GSI, including Senior Vice President, President and Chairman of the Board, and Vice President of Petroleum Exploration of Texas Instruments. When GSI was purchased by Halliburton Physical Services in 1988, Mr. Graebner was named Chief Geophysicist with the new organization. He retired in 1993 after 45 years of service and currently does consulting and is Senior Research Fellow for The Bureau of Economic Geology at the University of Texas at Austin. He is recognized as one of the individuals most responsible for the development of 3-D seismic technology in the gas and oil industry.
