Fair Use Policy
The University of Houston Libraries has made every effort to determine that information related to copyright and other restrictions applying to our collections is accurate. However, rights in historical, archival and digital collections may be difficult or impossible to determine. The Library offers broad public access to our collections when the University holds the copyright or has permission to use the work, or when the use fits within fair use or another exemption specified in copyright law. Some materials in these collections may be protected by the U.S. Copyright Law (Title 17, U.S.C). If you need help in interpreting copyright please see the Copyright Office website at the Library of Congress for assistance.
All content on the UH Libraries – Digital Library web site, including images, macromedia files, and portable document format (pdf) files, may be downloaded, provided that the intended use falls within fair use. There are several factors that determine fair use, please refer to Fair Use Evaluator and/or U.S. Copyright Office – Fair Use. Any images downloaded must cite the source.

Any use of these materials for commercial use requires the written permission from the copyright owner (s). Works not in the public domain cannot be commercially exploited without permission of the copyright owner. Responsibility for any use rests exclusively with the user.
The University of Houston Libraries - Digital Library is eager to hear from any copyright owner(s) who are not properly identified so that the appropriate information may be passed along to inquiries about use in the future.
